Lot Essay

It is unusual to find a porcelain snuff bottle imitating fahua of the Ming dynasty, itself imitating cloisonné. For a large Ming jar from the George Eumorfopoulos Collection, molded and painted in a very similar style with a peacock amidst tree peony on an unusual green ground, see R. L.
