Each of rectangular shape with rounded corners decorated with stands of chrysanthemums and grasses against a trellis which continues on the sides of the boxes, rendered in gold takamaki-e and inlaid mother-of-pearl on a gold ground, the interiors nashiji; the writing box fitted with an inkstone and silver mizuire--suzuribako 2 3/8 x 1¾ x ½in. (6 x 4.6 x 1.7cm.); ryoshibako 3 7/8 x 2 7/8 x 1 3/8in. (10 x 7.3 x 3.6cm.)
