A FOUR PIECE SILVER TEA SERVICE, maker's mark of Wood & Hughes, (maker's mark only), circa 1850, comprising teapot, two handled covered sugar basin, cream jug with squat partly covered spout and hinged cover, and deep circular waste bowl, each spreading cylindrical with rounded shoulder, on four tapering berried supports with vine apron between, two sides with vacant shaped oval reserve, topped by ivy spray flanked by trailing blossoms and foliage and terminating in further ivy and blossom, the corners with chased foliate oval reserve, with die rolled rim, the teapot with part grape-cluster clad and foliate scroll handle, elaborately decorated floral and foliate swan's neck spout, the hinged molded domed cover chased with swirling leaves and topped by strawberry form finial--the teapot 9in.
