1985 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SPUR
Chassis No. SCAZN42ABFCX13152
Silver over black with black piped grey leather interior.
Engine: V8, 6,750cc; Gearbox: four speed automatic; Brakes: four wheel hydraulic disc; Suspension: front, independent and rear with automatic levelling. Left hand drive.
The Silver Spur was introduced in 1981, as the long awaited successor and the first "new" Rolls-Royce to come after the Silver Shadow which had been in production for almost fifteen years. The Spur body style was conservative, but modern and elegant. Every feature was state of the art, without ever veering into the experimental: power assisted rack and pinion steering, disc brakes, automatic air conditioning, central door locking and a self levelling device to compensate for luggage weight. Most importantly it still had all of the characteristics that typify a Rolls-Royce such as the wonderful Connolly leather and burled wood interior.
The Spur model marked the revival of the name once used for the "Flying Spur" coachbuilt Bentley Continentals. The newer designation meant that the car was four inches longer than the Silver Spirit, and that it had the Everflex roof covering, drop down picnic tables for the rear passengers, and lighted vanity mirrors in the "C" pillar.
This Spur was used by Mr. Rosenblatt for special occasions, particularly in the latter part of his life, when he preferred to be driven to his then limited engagements in this Rolls-Royce, accounting for the exceptionally low mileage of below 10,000 miles. The car comes complete with service records and owners manual.
