Details
1929 BLACKHAWK FOUR DOOR SEDAN
Chassis No. 16426
Grey and black.
Engine: six cylinder, in-line, OHV, 241.5 ci, 85 bhp, Gearbox: three speed manual; Brakes: hydraulic on four wheels; Suspension: semi-elliptic springs. Left hand drive.
Introduced in January, 1929 as a lower-priced companion to the Stutz line, the company attempted to seperate the new series from the Black Hawk models by spelling the name as one word instead of two. Lower-priced companion lines of cars were all the rage back in the late 1920s among U.S. manufacturers; thus the likes of LaSalle, Pontiac, Marquette, Viking, Whippet, and Blackhawk appeared on the scene; some just in time for the Great Depression.
Blackhawk sales met with some small success but the line was absorbed back into Stutz in 1931. The example on offer here has sound, straight fenders and body with some surface rust. Interior is intact and the upholstery is good for patterns.
This car's original paint will need stripping and renewing. The car carries wire wheels and sidemount tires, and should restore into an attractive representative of the marque.
