A HUANGHUALI SEDAN CHAIR DOCUMENT CASE, JIAOXIANG
17TH CENTURY

The cover with a long rectangular top above the low sides and opening to the conforming upper section of the box set with a shallow tray between two small lidded compartments, above the lower section recessed from the notched ends, the ruyi-shaped top corner mounts, the side corner pieces, the front latch and round face plate all in baitong, the wood of exceptional grain reminiscent of clouds and streams, the tray and mounts replaced
5½in. (14cm.) high, 29½in. (75cm.) wide, 6 5/8in. (17cm.) deep
