A LARGE DOUCAI JARDINIÈRE
QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD

The deep, thickly potted sides tapering towards the foot rim and painted in rich enamels with five large foliate roundels formed by sprays of various flowers surrounding a central lotus blossom in iron-red, separated by vertical rows of interlocked ruyi heads conjoining the leafy, arabesque borders to form a continuous band set between a petal-lappet border below and a ruyi border and a band of linked flower-spray cartouches above, the slightly concave base unglazed in a broad circle surrounding a recessed, glazed medallion centered by the nianhao, glaze hair crack on the interior and some abrasion to interior--12 7/8in. (32.7cm.) diam.
