BABE RUTH AND ERNIE SHORE
On June 23, 1917 Babe Ruth walked the first batter and was thrown out of the game by umpire Owens for striking the umpire. Ernie Shore replaced Ruth and after the runner was thrown out trying to steal second, Shore retired the next twenty-six men in order for a perfect game. Included are photographs of Ruth, Shore and umpire Owens.
