In late 1855, Greene traveled to Algeria to document vestiges of Egyptian civilization. At the Museum at Cherchell he studied and photographed this fragment of an Egyptian statuary. Prior to his work in Algeria, Greene had traveled extensively in Egypt, studying and recording archeological sites.
