A LARGE BRONZE FIGURE
meiji period (late 19th century)
Modelled as a sennin with long hair and nails, standing in loose robes open at the chest, a double-gourd flask suspended from the sash at the left side, holding in the right hand like a parasol the thick stalk of a large lotus and in the left hand the edge of the lotus flower balanced on the top of the head, the body of the figure finished in a golden brown patina and the robes and lotus brown-black--25¼in. (64.3cm.) high
