A THREE-CASE LACQUER INRO
edo period (late 18th-early 19th century), signed koma kyuhaku saku
Of rectangular shape designed with two clam shells on a roiro ground, one ornamented in gold and silver hiramaki-e, kinji, and silver foil within a raised rim of gold takamaki-e, the unadorned outerside of the other lacquered in silver takamaki-e with accents of brown hiramaki-e, interior cases in brown lacquer with fundame rims; fitted with a soft metal ojime representing a maneneko and a wood ojime carved as a pile of clams--3 1/8in. (7.9cm.) high, some losses to the hiramaki-e design
