A Louis Philippe ormolu and jasper ware clock garniture
movement numbered 2607, porcelain stamped Adams; second quarter 19th century
The clock formed as an urn on a hollow-cornered ormolu base with berried laurel collet to a jasper wase barrel carved with biscuit figures in relief, egg-and-dart moulding to the urn above with leafy socle base, white enamel Roman and Arabic hour and minute chapter rings with gilt fleur de lys half hour markers, the urn lid cast in the form of a leafy branch festoned with berries with a serpent's head emerging from the foliage indicating the time with it's forked tongue, its flanking rams' heads reflected in the pair of conforming candlestick/urns with similar bases and Wedgewood porcelain stems, the urns on three cleft hoof monopodiae and with rams' heads festoned with garlands of flowers, the flambeau finials everting to form candlestick nozzles.
