The case on later skirted base supporting the plinth with restored simulated marquetry, the rectangular trunk door inlaid with bird and floral marquetry with angels and grotesques, circular lenticle, similar marquetry to the hood with ¾-columns, floral marquetry to the caddy top with three later gilt-wood ball finials, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Tho Johnson London on the silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, ringing winding holes to the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and decorated calendar aperture, crown-and-cherub spandrels, the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell
