The Cole numbers indicate that this clock was number 962 and that Cole had made 98 in this style. Interestingly item 11 in J.B. Hawkins, Thomas Cole and Victorian Clockmaking, pp.68, illustrates an identical clock also retailed by Hancock, numbered 863/78 which seems to corroborate evidence that indicates his oval strut clocks were his most popular design.
