A RARE IMPERIAL GILT AND ENAMEL ALTAR ORNAMENT
GILT JIAQING SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

Moulded as a Buddhist wheel of law standing on a spreading plinth with lotus petals in high relief, all in imitation of a gilt-bronze or gold original, the reticulated wheel at the centre enriched with turquoise, coral and sapphire-blue enamels to simulate their hardstone counterparts, the mandorla surround relief-moulded (tiny nicks to edges)

Compare with two similar examples, the first in the Weishaupt collection illustrated by Avitabile, From the Dragon's Treasure, fig. 1; another with a Qianlong mark in The National Palace Museum, Taibei, was included in their Special Exhbition of Qing Monochromes, 1981, Catalogue, no. 74.
