The head finely carved in shallow relief with a taotie mask, the arched handle with further taotie masks and archaistic scrolls, the softly-polished dark green stone with areas of black speckling

Compare with another spinach-green jade ruyi carved in a similar style with archaistic motifs and taotie, but with additional relief carved lotus sprigs, inlcuded in the National Museum of History, Taibei, exhibition, The Jade Carving Art in The Ch'ing Dynasty, Catalogue, and featured pgs. 128-131.
