NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY

The flat shallow interior rising sharply to a wide everted rim, covered inside and out with a thick vicuous glaze of creamy-blue and lavender tone thinning at the rim and sides, the footrim left unglazed, the base with three evenly spaced spur-marks (shallow glaze chips to underside) 7 1/4 in. (18.4 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A dish of similar size and form dated Jin-Yuan is illustrated in Chinese Ceramics, The Idemitsu Collection, pl. 495; compare with a dish dated Northern Song Dynasty, sold in our New York Rooms, 1 June 1990, lot 163.
