Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Badly bin-soiled label. Number 180. Level just below top-shoulder
Understandly Baron Philippe's favourite wine. I am almost ashamed to say that I have tasted - consumed - the '49 Mouton on some twenty occasions, memorably a bottle from Jack's cellar served to the Bordeaux Club in May 1982: a most attractive vivacious red; beautiful bouquet, aromatic, crisp, with noticable Mouton Cabernet Sauvignon cassis; delicate yet penetrating, fabulous flavour. Perfection. Still is. M.B.
