A PAIR OF ORMOLU AND BRONZE-MOUNTED MAHOGANY AND EBONISED DWARF OPEN BOOKCASES
Part early 19th Century
Each with a moulded rectangular stepped top with breakfront front corners, a pair of hinged Egyptian herm figures flanking two adjustable shelves, on a rectangular plinth base,each with a printed 'MAPLE'S DEPOSITORY' label stamped 'R.NESBITT ESQ.', one also inscribed in pencil 'chipped DR', lacking moulding above one head, probably adapted from the flanking elements of a late George III breakfront bookcase
34 in. (86.6 cm.) high; 22 in. (56 cm.) wide; one 16¼ in. (41.5 cm.) deep, the other 16¾ in. (42.5 cm.) (2)
