A LIMESTONE RELIEF OF RAMESSES II AND ON THE REVERSE A SCULPTOR'S MODEL
DYNASTY XIX, REIGN OF RAMESSES II, 1279-1212 B.C.
The obverse with scene of the pharoah wearing an uraeus on his khepresh (blue war)-crown, with ribbons flying behind, and another uraeus wearing the white crown falling down from the fold in the crown, wearing a beaded collar, pleated kilt with bull's tail hanging down behind and a stiff long transparent cloak(?) over the top, sandals on his feet, wielding an axe in his right hand and holding the top-knot of a bound Nubian prisoner in his left, the Nubian wearing a short decorated leather(?) kilt and two long decorated tassles hanging down, standing on tip-toe, above the cartouches read "Lord of the Two Lands User-maat-ra-setep-n-ra, Lord of the Ascensions, Ramesses", to the King's left "Given life" and below his elbow "Endurance stability and dominion like Ra for ever"
The reverse with profile head to left of a king wearing uraeus, short echeloned curls, beard and beaded necklace, below profile head to right of a lion wearing a tripartite wig, through which the plaited mane and ear emerges, and broad floral collar below, mounted
