AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE LEKYTHOS

The body frieze decorated with armed Athena in combat with a warrior, two draped male figures flanking the scene and looking on, an animal on the shoulder between two ivy leaves, details incised and in added purple, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high; another lekythos with three palmettes around the body, a double row of tongues on the shoulder, 5th Century B.C., 4¼ in. (10.7 cm.) high; and a Roman green glass footed balsamarium, the piriform body with everted mouth, thick zigzag trails around the neck, 4th Century A.D., 5.1/8 in. (13 cm.) high (3)
