Lot Essay

The distinctive rocaille form of these stools derives from a royal model by the celebrated master menuisier Franois Foliot executed between 1750 and 1760. A pair of this model is at Versailles, (see B. Pallot, L'Art du Sige au XVIIIe Sicle en France, Paris, 1987, p. 266).
