The distinctive pierced apron and pounced lozenge and bead borders related to a group of pieces by the Kster family workshops in Altona in the 1760's (see A.I. Kratz, Altonaer Mbel, Hamburg, 1988, pp. 214-224, figs. 37-53). A closely related Altona commode was sold Christie's London, 10 December 1992, lot 180.
