painted and gilt with a central scene of a scholar in an interior behind a table covered with albums and a scroll, two karako standing before him on a terrace overlooking a garden of bamboo, all within a border of cartouches of prunus, pine and pomegranates on a ground of trailing flowers and leaves -- 14¼in. (36.2cm.) diam, circa 1700, (some rubbing).
