A Queen Anne brass-mounted fruitwood bracket timepiece, early 18th century
The case with conjoined figural handle to the repoussé double basket top, decorated with cherubs, flowers and medallions, with later budding finials to the angles, with openwork mounts to the sides of the front door, with mock escutcheon, glazed panels to the sides, on brass bun feet, the 7in. (17.5cm.) square gilt-brass dial with winged cherub spandrels to the silvered chapter ring, later minute hand, signed GORSUCH in SALOP, matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, the four ringed pillar single gut fusee movement with verge escapement, with pierced backcock, pull wind repeat with lines to each side, the backplate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls within a hatched border and signed Thomas Gorsuch in Salop fecit
