A Luneville group of young lovers
Circa 1760, incised initials L.D over impressed rectangle
Modelled after Paul-Louis Cyffl, as a farm girl and farm boy, she collecting eggs in her apron, he with a flute in his pocket and leaning over to kiss her on the cheek, standing before straw and a tree-stump on a square mound base, with broken eggs at her feet (crack through his left ankle, chipping to his hat, part of one of her plaits lacking, slight chipping to base)

Lot Essay

Paul-Louis Cyffl (1724-1806) provided models for the Lunville factory from c.1752 until 1766, when he established his own factory at Lunville.
