Each oval, the gadrooned rim with ovolos and acanthus at intervals, the high domed covers with gadrooned band on shoulder and calyx surmounted by a gadrooned and beaded handle with acanthus joins, the covers engraved on each sides with armorials, marked on reverses of dishes and under covers

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Curzon as borne by Nathaniel (Curzon), 2nd Baron Scarsdale (1751-1837).

The principal residence of the 2nd Baron Scarsdale was Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, best known for being completed and decorated by Robert Adam for the 1st Baron Scarsdale (1726-1804).
