Half-titles, errata leaves in each volume, line block figures and two wood engravings in text, 21 lithographic plates. 1:Ff2 blank present; 8-leaf publisher's catalog bound at end (unopened). (Quire 1:E loose in sewing.) Original maroon cloth (joints and extremities scuffed, spines slightly faded, inner hinges cracked or weak); folding cloth box. Provenance: Charles Pendlebury, mathematician, author of several arithmetic textbooks (St. John's College, Cambridge, bookplate).

FIRST EDITION, second issue, with the errata leaves, and without the words "just published" in the advertisement for the present work on p, 10 of the publisher's catalogue. A very good copy. Grolier/Horblit 72; Wheeler Gift Catalogue 1872; Norman 1467.
