Paris, 1744/1750, with the charge and discharge marks of Antoine Leschaudel, maker's mark rubbed
Rectangular lacquer box, decorated all over with a radiating wavy coin pattern painted in gold lacquer on a black ground, the inside of the cover set with a fine watercolour portrait miniature depicting two children disguised as a monk and nun, against a foliage and sky background, wavy flange, narrow gold mounts, the slightly raised thumbpiece chased and engraved with accolé C-scrolls
