An important French silver soup-tureen, cover and stand from the Patinó service
Maker's mark of Joseph Chaumet, Paris, 1918
On shaped oval stand repoussé and chased with ribbon-tied scrolls, shells, bullrushes and foliage, and applied on either side with a lobster, vegetables and foliage, the ends each applied with two dolphins, the centre removable, the oval partly fluted bombé two-handled body chased with two vacant cartouches, the cover with reed-and-tie border and chased with shells and scrolls, with detachable cabbage finial, marked on stand, tureen base and cover and signed J CHAUMET PARIS on tureen base and stand

Musée Carnavalet in the exhibition Chaumet Paris Two centuries of Fine Jewellery, 1998. Illustrated in the catalogue with a reproduction of the original design by Chaumet and a photograph of the service on display at 12 Place Vendôme, under Appendix II No 234, 235 and 238.
