Lot Essay

The present lot is by an anonymous Northern artist, working in Italy in the first quarter of the 17th century. Compare with the picture by Evert Quirijnsz. van der Maes (1577-circa 1627), signed and dated 1609, in the Museum Boymans-Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, inv. n01480.
