Engraved throughout, 63 copper-engraved plates only, most with touches of early hand-colouring, one double-page, three folding, numbered 55-110, 112-113, 5 unnumbered. (Most plates shaved with slight loss to the image area and numeration, neat repairs to the folding plates.) 18th-century English calf, gilt (worn).
A substantial selection, of plates, the first plate includes the half title, dated 1613, Amplificatio sive Dilatatio Florilegii... "Many of the figures on the plates are copies (in reverse) from Pierre Vallet's Le Jardin du Roy, 1608.. , with the deletion of some of the insects shown in the Vallet, and with the addition of bulbs for some of the plants. Nissen... mentions Besler's Hortus Eystettensis, 1613, and vande Pas' Hortus Floridus, 1614... as other source material" (Hunt p.208). Cf. Nissen BBI 272.
