Lot Essay

The present watercolour is thought to be an original drawing for one of the most important botanical works produced in 18th-century Italy. The publication comprised 800 handcoloured engravings of plants and flowers, and the original drawings were executed by Cesare Ubertini and Liberato and Constantino Sabbati.
