The cover decorated with the "Husband and Wife" rocks at Futamigaura, joined by a shimenawa [Shinto straw rope] before the golden orb of the sun emerging over violent waves, the sun in usuniku-takamakie, the rocks and waves in gold and silver takamakie of ginpun and kinpun with dense enrichments of mixed square and triangular kirikane, the kuronuri ground representing the sky crossed by bands of cloud in kinpun togidashie, the interior of the cover decorated with two silver characters from a poem, inlaid into the black ground, over which are bamboo and chrysanthemums beside a stream in gold togidashie, the stream and clouds continued on the interior of the box, where the chrysanthemums of the interior of the cover are reflected in the water of the stream, the suzuri fits into the space between two removable trays into one of which is set the retainer for the shibuichi, partly gilt suiteki decorated in kebori with ishime and a floral border with a loose loop handle, very minor dent, age crack and scratch, with an outer box
