Silver (rather than pewter) rims to the boxes and covers and the incorporation of the togidashi technique indicate a date of manufacture around the turn of the 19th/20th century. However, all the outer techniques on the interior and exterior of the boxes is faithful both in style and technique to Igarashi work made in Kyoto and Kaga in the late 17th/early 18th century.
