A FINE MINIATURE BRONZE CABINET
Signed Takakazu and kao on the door, sealed Inoue to the base, Meiji period (19th century)
Decorated in gold hirazogan, each side with shaped panels with various design on a saya pattern ground, the top with various landscape within roundels, the doors decorated with a cockerel perched on plum tree overlooking two ducks floating on water, the inside of each door with a ho-o bird spreading its wings in flight, the left side with a cock, a hen and her chick beside bamboo and bellflowers, the right side with a flying bird pecking at a bush clover beside a blossoming peony branch, the back with flying cranes over marsh on a full moon night, fitted with four drawers decorated with a rich outdoor scenery, each handle modelled as a peony blossom, and two shelves with Mt. Fuji depicted on the background, the base and the top with key, saya and sakura patterns, raised on six feet decorated with stylised flowers and scrolling karakusa, kanamono modelled as a blossoming plum branch, slight old wear and small inlay missing
