The glazed rectangular oak case with an applied grey-painted metal backboard supporting the main white enamel Arabic dial signed Electrique Paul Garnier Sme. Ch. Fery Vté. S.G.D.G., blued steel spade hands and sweep centre seconds, the movement with chain drive to the contact wheel above calibrated 1-24 and signed Paul Garnier giving impulse every half minute, the steel rod pendulum with gilt painted calibrated spherical rating nut above the horseshoe magnet oscilating round the flat coil; with a circular metal cased slave timepiece signed Electrique Paul Garnier Paris on a cream painted Arabic dial with blued steel spade hands, the electro magnetic movement with brass plates numbered 10930

The contact wheel was probably used for such menial tasks as turning lights or a boiler on and off rather in the same way as the modern central heating timing unit. The wheelwork and construction show Garnier's usual high quality.
