A FINE AND LARGE PAIR OF CLOISONNE ENAMEL QILIN CENSERS AND COVERS
18th century
Each sturdy beast standing four-square on powerful legs with sharpened claws, the rounded body enamelled with blue scales reserved with burgundy flames and a pale mauve chest, applied with a gilt-bronze band suspending a bell and tassels, the detachable tail in multi-coloured stripes, the separate head with fiercely-glaring eyes and open jaws below pricked ears and the bifurcated horn, one chest bruise, minor enamel losses
