4 volumes bound in 2, 8 (243 x 157 mm). Engraved text with musical notation by Moria and Mlle. Vendme, engraved dedication leaf with the arms of Marie-Antionette by Masquelier after Moreau, 100 plates after Moreau, Le Bouteux, Le Barbier and Saint-Quentin, engraved by Moreau, Masquelier, and Ne. Contemporary French calf, triple gilt fillet on covers, spines elaborately gilt, gilt inner dentelles (slightly bumped, spines and corners with old restorations, rubbed).

Without the portrait which is often lacking. Cohen-de Ricci considered this book "un des plus beaux du XVIII sicle," particularly due to the engravings in the first volume by Moreau which make the work "a masterpiece" (Ray). La Borde began the work with Moreau, but after falling out with the artist, brought in Le Bouteux, Le Barbier and Saint-Quentin to complete the illustrations for volumes II-IV.
