A 1776 HANCOCK SIGNATURE. Apppointment of William Valentine to the post of "Deputy Commissary-General for the Troops of So. Carolina in the Army of the United States, raised for the Defence of American Liberty, and for repelling every hostile Invasion thereof...." Due to condition, sold not subject to return.
