A mid 20th century iron spade bit, hallmarked "EG* MAGDALENA SONORA MEXICO". The Santa Barbara style cheekpieces are designed in the desirable Elko Star pattern, each star inlaid with silver and engraved in a linear motif, surrounded by buttons and finished with a scalloped edge. The mouthpiece features a Spanish spade, the cheeks secured with double slobber chains.
Overall bit length: 9 in. Mouthpiece: 4 in.
