A fully rigged and planked model of the ninety-eight gun French flagship Le Soleil Royale of circa 1669
built by D. Hartley with bound masts, yards, standing and running rigging, horse's head and robed rider figurehead, hair rails, anchors with bound wooden stocks, catheads with sheaves, bitts, belaying rails and pins, ballustrading and ship's bell, gratings, companionways, two ship's boats with bottom boards, thwarts and oars, upper deck guns in carriages and other details. The hull, fully planked and with planked deck and open gun ports, stern and quarter galleries, is finished in matt varnish and blue with much gold plated caryatid and ornamental decoration -- 35 x 42in.
