The first thanking her for lending him a servant: "I have been told that you have been a month from your holiday and have nevertheless allowed Mario to remain with me until my departure. I want to thank you for this great courtesy and kindness on your part." The second again thanking her for allowing Mario to work for him and enclosing a book as a token of his gratitude.
