Churchill"), to Lord Shuttleworth, 8°, on Royal Admiralty, Whitehall, headed paper, 26 July 1912, acknowledging Shuttleworth's recommendation of Mr Robinson but adding: "The number of applications for appointment as midshipman in the Naval Reserve is greatly in excess of the vacancies, so I am afraid it is impossible to say anything definite as to his prospects."
With a typed letter from the Duchess of Kent signed "Marina" complimenting and congratulating the organisation of the P.D.S.A. on their impressive work "notwithstanding the many difficulties occasioned by the war". (2)
