A 14-inch (35.5cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made of twelve colour-printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and prime meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans coloured in five shades of blue denoting depths to below 3000 fathoms, showing major currents and steamship routes labelled with ports of arrival and departure and distances in nautical miles, the Antarctic with partial coastline and labelled Scott[...]14.1911, the continents delicately coloured in seven shades of green and yellow denoting height above sea-level to above 10,000 feet, showing national and state boundaries, rivers, some mountain peaks with height in feet, and major cities and ports, with brass finial and support, on turned mahogany pillar and plinth base -- 19¾in. The Russias are marked Union of S.S. Republics and St Petersburg is labelled Leningrad, indicating a date of manufacture between the final Bolshevik victory over the White Russians in 1919 and the naming of St Petersburg in 1924.
