The interesting, if not entirely politically correct, "ethnic illustrations" consist in a short note on where one finds the indigenous peoples of five areas of the globe, accompanied by a simple artist's rendering of the head of a typical example. The five races are: the Race Rouge, the Race Blanche, the Race Noire, the Malais and the Race Jaune. For example, the Malais description reads: En OCÉANIE: Malaisie et Polynesie. En ASIE. Dans la presqu'île de Malacca et les îles voisines.
