The case in the form of a rotunda with domed top and pineapple finial, above revolving rings for hours and minutes with individual chapters (restorations and replacements), with star-shaped pointer, the horizontally positioned movement below with twin barrels and countwheel strike on bell, inverted anchor escapement and silk suspension, mounted on an oval platform with beaded gallery mount, trailing floral swags below, supported by two fluted and tapering grey bardiglio marble columns with composite capitals, on stepped oval base centred by a biscuit porcelain female figure (damages, later), with further beaded gallery mounts and floral swags, on six toupie feet
