The case with brass handle to the breakarch top, with brass slip to the front door and conforming mouldings to the front angles, arched fish scale sound frets to the sides, replaced door handles, on bracket feet, the dial with silvered strike/silent ring to the arch, foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring with matted centre, recessed calendar dial and applied with a plaque signed James Shrapnell London, the twin gut fusee movement with verge escapement and strike on bell, the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and a ho-ho bird, possibly composite
