A George III quarter-chiming mahogany longcase clock, last quarter 18th century
The case with dentil mouldings to the swan-neck pediment with carved rosettes, turned finials, with blind fret panels to the cornices, outset cluster columns, with beaded frame flanking the trunk door, with lobed and dentil mouldings to the top of the hood, above band of carved stiff leaves and blind fret panelling, with three-quarter cluster columns on integral plinths with lozenge and chequer inlay, tracery arch trunk door, the plinth with chamfered angles and beaded panelling (some mouldings detached), on bracket feet, the brass dial with painted rolling moon to the arch, foliate scroll spandrels to the chapter ring engraved with inside calendar ring, with hatch engraved centre against a matted ground, applied with seconds ring and associated vertically positioned conjoined scroll panel signed SCOTSON LIVERPOOL, the four pillar three train movement with anchor escapement quarter-chiming on a nest of eight bells and with hour strike on further bell; movement with adaptations, seatboard split
