Album containing fifty hand-tinted albumen prints, each approx. 8 x 10½ in. or the reverse, the majority titled and numbered in the negatives, tissue guards, black lacquer boards (spine lacking and front cover part detached), faux-ivory and mother-of-pearl onlay depicting butterflies, flowers and a bird on front cover, g.e., oblong 4to., in original Japanese cloth box.

Portraits of Japanese girls playing games, arranging flowers, arranging dresses, reading, being carried in travelling chairs, dancing, dress-making; others include 'Cleaning rice', workers in a field, dining, and one of a 'Japanese old famer'.
